The black material was taken from an old garment bag that was destined for the trash.  The strips of material that make up the body of the bag are heavy plastics from several cat and dog food bags.  Each strip is cut, sew together and fused with heavy interfacing to make it incredibly strong and durable.  The inside lining is deep purple.  95% of the bag is made from material destined to be thrown in the trash.
